A farm boy from Kansas called into ministry at ag 12, Larry has ministered as a youth pastor, evangelist, radio preacher, and missions leader. At age 28, Larry founded “Teen Leaders for Christ” to help develop Christian leadership skills in teens.

For the past 17 years, Larry has led an urban church in Long Beach, California. Light & Life Christian Fellowship has grown from a dying mono-ethnic church of 80 to a large multi-ethnic church. Light & Life is passionate about church planting and has helped start ten other churches in the USA.

Larry also has a passion for international ministry and has led Light & Life to start seven churches in Ethiopia and is assisting in starting two new churches in the Philippines. Usually once or twice a year Larry is in a second or third world country to do ministry.

Larry and his wife have also founded L.I.M.E. (Life In Motion Enterprises, limeworks.org), a non-profit to assisting in local and global compassion projects. Larry often speaks around the nation and internationally to teens, collegians, pastors, and leaders. He also does limited motivational speaking for the business sector.

Deb (an ordained pastor on staff at Light & Life) and Larry have been married since 1978. Lindsey, their daughter was born in 1984. Lindsey is a spiritual leader, studying at Fuller Seminary for a Masters in Cross Cultural Ministry. Larry says, “My two girls are the best part of my life and far outshine me in talent and commitment to Christ”.

Larry has a Th.B, a M.Div. and an earned Doctorate of ministry from Haggard School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University. He was selected in 2001 as one of the 100 most influential graduates of Azusa Pacific University over its 100 year history. In 2008 he was inducted into the Azusa Pacific University Hall of Fame.

Larry loves snow-skiing, water-skiing, boating, working out, reading, good conversations with close friends, exploring new places, and real estate development.

My Biblical Purpose:
I live to fully experience God’s love for me personally, to be transformed by that love until I am living like Christ, and to overflow with that love so that others taste His love through me.

My Core Values:

Eternity
This world is not my home, I am only passing through. Only one life twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.
Grace
I received it, I need it, I live by it, I want to dispense it freely to others. I want grace to transform my life and be the means to my fresh starts when I fail.
Adventure
Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all. I want to risk for God. I want to try new things that if God doesn’t come through they will surely fail. New experiences teach me new lessons.
Balance
Balanced living is the path to the abundant life and is what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52 – And Jesus increased in stature, wisdom, and in favor with God and man. These 4 dimensions of life must be constantly balanced in order to go the distance for God.
Generosity
You can’t outgive God…you make a living by what you earn but a life by what you give. You will only really keep that which you have given away. Blessed to be a blessing.
Empowerment
My joy is not doing it myself but being the catalyst for others to get to do it. My privilege is to open doors for others. Catalyzing new ministry opportunities for others is my delight.
Passion
Do not quench the Spirit’s fire! The Kingdom is characterized by passion…run to the battle, dance before the lord with all my might, dive into the water to see Jesus. Enthusiasm makes the difference in all you do.
Wisdom
Wisdom is of greater value that gold and diamonds. Be a life-long learner who surrounds himself with great thinkers, healthy influences, godly people. Receive and dispense wisdom. Live in the word to gain wisdom.

My Personal Vision Statement:
I see a fervent worshipper of Jesus who is habitually practicing a variety of spiritual disciplines in order to experience an ever-increasing fullness of God’s peace, purity, power, and presence in my life. This real life relationship with Jesus will be so authentic and passionate that people will be impacted for God by being around me. I see a life of service to empower my wife and daughter into the dreams God has for the women they are to become and the ministry they are to carry out for His glory. I see a multi-faceted ministry that focuses on empowering people to reach the destiny God created them for. This ministry will give rise to an ever-growing, multi-ethnic, missional church which is being shaped by my teaching and leadership; a multiplication of ministries and churches; several books on Christian living and ministry; a non-profit organization that assists ministries world-wide through finances and spiritual influence.
